The early dawn banners marching long
with the sigh of brakes, hush
trees whispering by, and by
days go, newsprint colors fading in an out as calls across
the aisle break the haze
of morning, mourning moments past
and come, lost to the gritty hum
of the tires on the gray gravel road.
